Telangana Governor urges engineers to make India proud and Atma Nirbhar
- Governor addresses JNTUH IX Convocation
- Appeals young graduates to accept challenges and innovate
- Emphasises engineers’ role in creating self-reliant India
She said that the engineers have an important role in translating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat into a reality.
“You have so many opportunities to contribute to the country and fulfil your ambitions for innovation by participating in Make in India, Start Up India and Atma Nirbhar Bharat and other initiatives launched by the government,” she added.
The Governor was delivering the Chancellor’s address at the IX Convocation of the JNTUH in a virtual mode from the Raj Bhavan, here.
“Do not expect the life to be smooth always. You must be ready to face challenges. Be courageous to face and overcome the challenges in life and profession,” Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan added.
The Governor cautioned the young graduates, who were awarded degrees at the convocation, not to be complacent with their degrees. “You must constantly sharpen your skills and get updated to face the competition at the global level,” she added.
Highlighting the progress made by India in many areas since Independence, the Governor stated that we are now designing and sending rockets and satellites for the world. We are also building the longest bridges in difficult terrains. We are also building the largest statues and dams and in all these the role of engineers is exemplary.
We must ensure the country’s further development in many areas and make India strong and a developed nation.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan also advised the graduates to practice yoga, meditation and walking to maintain physical fitness.
“Without good physical health and fitness, it is very difficult to achieve success in our lives. So many youngsters are falling prey to lifestyle diseases due to their faulty food habits and by ignoring our traditional nutritious food,” she said.
Referring to the Bathukamma celebrations beginning today, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan urged the people to respect nature and promote and perpetuate our traditions and culture by celebrating our native festivals with due gaiety.
The Governor termed DRDO Chairman Dr. G. Sateesh Reddy, who was conferred with honorary doctorate by the JNTUH as part of its convocation ceremony, as the role model for young engineers.
She also appreciated the DRDO’s efforts in coming up with Mobile Viral Testing Vans, testing kits, advanced bullet proof jackets and for its role in advanced missile technology that make India strong and secure.
The Governor also had a word of praise for DGP M Mahender Reddy, who took his doctoral degree on the occasion.
JNTUH in-charge Vice-Chancellor Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Registrar Prof. Manzoor Hussain and other senior faculty members were present.
Doctoral degrees, graduation degrees, and gold medals were presented as part of the university’s convocation ceremony.
