KTR and CS review on flood situation in the city

Hyderabad: Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K T Ramarao along with Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar IAS held a meeting with the officials and reviewed the flood situation in the city.  The Minister  urged the officials to take up all necessary measures to tackle the aftermath of the deluge even as the waters have started receeding in most parts of Greater Hyderabad.

He said that as there is a likelihood of a sudden outbreak of epidemics and the spread of water-borne diseases, medical camps should be set up in the city. 104 ambulance service equipped with doctors and medicines should also be arranged at all the places.  Medical officers should sensitize the public that they should drink only hot water for a couple of days.  He also wanted to take up spraying at all places where water is stagnant.  He said that around 44 thousand people were put up in 64 relief camps and 45 thousand food packets were provided to the needy.  He also asked the officials to provide blankets to all the destitute and shelterless people as there is every likelihood of severe cold wave conditions to happen this season.

He instructed the officials to evacuate people from the dilapidated buildings and other construction sites to prevent any damage.  He said that wherever necessary the people may be forcefully evacuated with the help of the police.  The damaged roads in the city should be restored immediately.

Principal Secretary T R&B Sunil Sharma, Secretary Health and Family Welfare Rizvi, Secretary Disaster Management Rahul Bojja, Special   Secretary Ronald Ross, Secretary Women, and Child Welfare Divya, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
