Two transgender doctors script history, join govt service in Telangana
According to media reports, two transgender people from Telangana, Prachi Rathod and Ruth John Paul, wrote history by becoming the state's first transgender doctors to work for the government.
Ruth and Prachi recently started working as medical officers at the government-run Osmania General Hospital (OGH).
Both transgender doctors have described how they were subjected to societal shame and discrimination and how their communities led to their expulsion from private hospitals.
They have now expressed their joy at being connected to government health services. They claimed that they receive excellent care in the hospital and that patients see them on a frequent basis.
