Noted cartoonist Devulapalli Subbaraya Shastri passes away

Chennai: Noted cartoonist Devulapalli Subbaraya Shastri, son of Devulapalli Krishna Shastri passed away at the age of 91 on Thursday night at his residence in Chennai. It is learnt that he was suffering from some age-related problems for the last few days. Devulapalli Krishna Shastri was born in Pitapuram, East Godavari and learned drawing techniques from Adavi Bapiraju, Mokkapati, Pilaka, Gokhle.
He gained popularity through his cartoons in the name of Bujjai. He worked for Andra Patrika, Andhra Prabha, Andhra Jyothi weekly's and he also created a cartoon named Dumbu which gained millions of hearts. Andhra Pradesh government honoured with him the 'Bala Bandhu' award in 1992.
