Union Govt announces Padma Awards 2022
This year, 128 persons have been honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri awards, which are given in three categories. General Bipin Rawat, India's first Chief of Defence Staff, has been posthumously given the Padma Vibhushan, the country's second-highest civilian honour. Former UP Chief Minister Kalyan Singh has been posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan. Former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee will get the Padma Bhushan, as will veteran Congress politician Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Bharat Biotech Chairman Krishna Ella and his co-founder wife Suchitra Ella will be awarded the Padma Bhushan. Padma Bhushan will also be bestowed upon Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, and SII MD Cyrus Poonawalla. Padma Shri will be presented to Olympians Neeraj Chopra, Pramod Bhagat, and Vandana Kataria, as well as artist Sonu Nigam.
