Vizag Steel Plant: One crore sign campaign from Feb 1 to 7
The Visakha Steel Plant Porata Samithi has announced a protest against the steel plant's privatisation. On February 12, the one-year protest year will come to an end, and a new signature gathering drive will be initiated. The leaders of the Visakha Steel Plant Porata Samithi stated the gathering of one crore signatures will take place from February 1 to 7. Members of the Visakha Ukku Parirakshana Porata Committee (VUPPC) have announced that they would undertake a signature drive to rally support for the ongoing agitations against the sale of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on a 100 percent strategic basis. They stated that one crore signatures will be gathered from individuals from all walks of life in favour of the movement and in opposition to the Union Government's decision. They have also scheduled a protest programme in February.
'We will not budge until the Union Government reverses its decision and allots iron ore captive mines to the plant,' one VUPPC representative stated.
