PM Modi addresses World Economic Forum's virtual summit; Economists laud India's efforts
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually attended the World Economic Forum today. He addressed the World Economic Forum Chief, as well as other countries and economists from across the world. Apart from PM Modi, the Forum will hear from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.
During the pandemic, while the rest of the world focused on quantitative easing, India implemented reforms, according to Modi. PM Modi emphasised the importance of a collaborative and coordinated response to challenges to the global order, such as the possibility of supply chain disruption and inflation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that now is the ideal moment to invest in India, while outlining the numerous actions the country has made to make it the most appealing investment destination in the world.
The Davos Agenda focuses on manufacturing restructuring and sustainability. The World Economic Forum and World Economists lauded India's efforts in launching a successful immunisation campaign and controlling the spread of covid.
