South Africa-returnee tests positive for coronavirus in Srikakulam
Srikakulam: Tension escalated among the residents of Santhabommali, Srikakulam fearing of Omicron variant after a person who returned from South Africa tested positive for the coronavirus. According to the reports, a 51-year-old person returned from South Africa and tested positive for Coronavirus 15 days after he reached Srikakulam. The health department officials sent his samples to Hyderabad for genome sequence to know whether it is Omicron or not.
Officials said that they have identified 24 persons who are the contacts of the infected persons. It is said that he came from South Africa via London and reached Mumbai. From then he reached Vizag and tested negative for the virus at Mumbai airport.
