Mediation should be first step to settle disputes: CJI NV Ramana
Hyderabad: The Supreme Court Chief Justice NV Ramana said that mediation can solve many problems without approaching the courts. Addressing the Curtain Raiser and Stakeholders' Conclave of the International Arbitration and Mediation Centre, he said that a lot of problems can be solved with the help of mediation within a short time and added that approaching courts should be the last step to solve the problems.
He said that Lord Krishna attempted mediation between Pandavas and Kauravas and the failure of mediation led to disastrous consequences. CJI NV Ramana said that a small difference of opinion may lead to a big conflict and even a big conflict can be resolved in an effort in understanding one and another.
