PM Modi unveils statue of Adi Guru Shankaracharya at Kedarnath
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday unveiled a 12-foot statue of Adi Guru Shankaracharya in Kedarnath. After being devastated by Uttarakhand floods in 2013, the statue was restored. Adi Guru is depicted in a seated posture carved in the sculpture. It was erected behind the holy shrine of Kedarnath.
As part of the meditation, the prime minister sat for a while at the foot of the statue. Later, he reopened the eighth-century seer's reconstructed samadhi sthal (final resting place). In the Kedaranath temple, the PM also prayed to Lord Shiva.
