Chinese tech workers start campaign against '996' culture
A campaign asking workers to fight against the tech companies in China and other firms to log their working hours and week offs on a public internet page is going viral on social media and receiving huge responses from the employees. According to the reports, four anonymous creators who termed themselves as recent graduates started a campaign Worker Lives Matter asking employees to record their working hours in a spreadsheet on GitHub.
It is learned that employees from Alibaba Group Holding, Tencent Holdings, Baidu Inc and ByteDance registered their data. They are fighting against the '996' culture in which workers are forced to work from 9 am to 9 pm six days a week.
