Cyclone Gulab: North Andhra on alert as cyclone to make landfall today evening
The coastal regions of north Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring Odisha have been placed on high alert in anticipation of Cyclone 'Gulab,' which is expected to make landfall this evening. The cyclonic storm is anticipated to make landfall in three districts of Andhra Pradesh, namely Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Visakhapatnam, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). With wind gusts of up to 95 kmph, the cyclone is expected to reach landfall between Gopalpur (Odisha) and Kalingapatanam (Andhra Pradesh). The East Godavari and West Godavari districts have been given orange alerts. There may be moderate rainfall in the districts of Krishna, Guntur, Nellore, and Prakasham. Kurnool, Kadapa, Anantapur, and Chittoor districts have no indications of rain.
