Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra hospitalised, leaves ceremony midway
Neeraj Chopra, an Olympic gold winner, was taken to a hospital in Panipat on August 17 after abandoning a welcome ceremony in his hometown halfway owing to fever. Neeraj, who made history by becoming independent India’s first Olympic gold medalist in Tokyo, has been keeping a hectic schedule since his return to the nation on Monday.
Chopra has been attending several award events in Delhi. On Tuesday, he came to his native Khandra village near Panipat to a resounding welcome from the villagers. A large crowd gathered and he rode in a cavalcade to the welcoming ceremony near his hamlet. However, he became tired and developed a mild temperature. Immediately, he was shifted to a nearby hospital.
