Telangana High Court strikes down Vijayasai Reddy petition
The High Court of Telangana has rejected a plea filed by YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy in the disproportionate assets proceedings of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The CBI court has ruled that the ED cases would be heard first. AP Rajya Sabha member has petitioned the High Court to overturn the CBI court's judgement. He requested that the High Court order the CBI court to hear the CBI cases first, or to hear both the CBI and ED cases concurrently. The MP's lawyer said that it would be unfair to conduct the trial of ED cases first since they were filed based on FIRs issued by the CBI. The ED's cases are likely to lose legal validity if the CBI special court acquits the defendants in CBI proceedings, The High Court dismissed Vijayasai Reddy's arguments and affirmed the judgement of the CBI court. On the other hand, the court rejected the petitions brought on the identical subject by Jagati Publications and Raghuram Cements.
