Indian women’s hockey team breaks down during a telephonic talk with PM Modi
The Indian women's hockey team's goal of winning its first Olympic medal was dashed on Friday as it fell 3-4 to Rio Olympics gold medalist Great Britain in a hard-fought bronze play-off match in Tokyo Olympics. During a phone call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, players of the Indian women’s hockey team have broken down.
The PM commended them on their success in Tokyo 2020. After barely missing out on a bronze medal, he consoled an emotional Indian women's hockey team. “Your sweat may not have resulted in a medal, but it has served as a source of inspiration for millions of young Indian women. I congratulate the players and the coach on this achievement,” he said.
