Tokyo Olympics: Kamalpreet Kaur storms into women’s discus throw final
Indian discus thrower Kamalpreet Kaur, who made her Olympic debut, has finished second in the qualifying round and stormed into the final of the women’s discus at Tokyo Olympics on Saturday. The 25-year-old from Patiala in Punjab gave her best throw of 64m.
In 2012 London Olympics, Krishna Poonia’s throw was 63.62 metre. Kaur’s performance was much better compared with Poonia. She and another discus thrower have outclassed remaining contestants by hitting the qualifying mark of 64m. The final round will be played on August 2. There are chances for Kaur to win medal for India.
