Basavaraj Bommai takes oath as CM of Karnataka
Basavaraj Bommai has succeeded BS Yediyurappa by taking oath as 23rd Karnataka Chief Minister on Wednesday. The oath of office and secrecy was administered by the Governor at a ceremony in Bengaluru. Basavaraj is a loyalist of Yediyurappa and belongs to politically strong community of Karnataka. In 2008, he quit Janata Dal and joined the BJP.
Prior to taking oath, Bommai has offered prayers at Bhagavan Sri Maruthi Temple in Bengaluru. Later, he will review Covid-19 and floods in the state with officials. According to sources, he will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the evening.
