Centre rejects to bear revised cost of Polavaram Project
New Delhi: Replying to a question asked by YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy in Rajya Sabha, Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat stated that the revised cost of the Polavaram Project will not be borne by the Centre. “Onus lies on the AP government to bear the additional cost of the project,” he mentioned.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has written to the Centre on several occasions seeking approval for the revised estimation of the project at Rs 55,548 crore. The Polavaram Project Authority and Central Water Commission have approved revised cost estimates but the Centre agreed for only Rs 20,398.61 crore.
