Amaravati land scam: AP withdraws petition in SC
The Andhra Pradesh government dropped its appeal to the Supreme Court on Thursday, disputing a state high court decision that halted investigations into the Amaravati land fraud. The Supreme Court is considering a special leave petition(SLP) filed by the Jagan government challenging the state high court's September 2020 decision suspending the Anti-Corruption Bureau's First Information Report into the alleged Amaravati property fraud.
The FIR identified 13 people, including former attorney general Dammalapati Srinivas, on the basis that they bought property in the Amaravati region and earned a profit.
After withdrawing its SLP in the Supreme Court, the state government is expected to file a review petition in the state high court, seeking to remove the stay on the ACB investigation.
