Norway's women handball team fined for not wearing bikini bottoms
The Norwegian women's beach handball team was penalised for refusing to play in bikini bottoms during a Euro 2021 match. They were reprimanded for wearing shorts instead of bikini bottoms. Norway's players wore shorts during a bronze medal match against Spain in Varna, Bulgaria, in violation of the Athlete Uniform Regulations specified in the IHF Beach Handball Rules of the Game. The rules mandating women to compete in bikini bottoms are the source of the rule infraction.
The European Handball Federation (EHF), the sport's regulatory body, issued penalties for "improper clothing."
