On Saturday, China had announced the first human infection fatality caused by the Monkey B virus. A 53-year-old male veterinarian, who worked for a non-human primate research organisation, had nausea and vomiting a month after dissecting two deceased monkeys in early March.
The vet sought treatment at various hospitals before passing away on May 27. The virus is spread via direct touch and the exchange of body fluids. The first symptoms typically appear 1 to 3 weeks after being exposed to the virus. This virus symptoms are comparable to flu virus infections such as fever, chills, muscular pain, tiredness, and headache.
