WhatsApp banned 20 lakh Indian accounts within one month
Hyderabad: Popular messaging giant WhatsApp banned 20 lakh Indian accounts to prevent online abuse and keep users safe between 15 May and 15 June. The company revealed the details in its first compliance report published under India's new IT rules. It is said that the company will publish the report every 30 to 45 days.
The company blocks the accounts based on the negative feedback. A team of analysts will evaluate edge cases and help to improve the effectiveness over time. At present, WhatsApp is fighting against the Indian government’s new IT rule seeking the traceability of the first originator of a message within the country.
