Kerala Governor fasts in protest against dowry, atrocities against women
For the first of its kind, a governor of a state has launched a protest against dowry, and atrocities against women. Following a spate of dowry murders in Kerala and throughout India, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan held a fast on Wednesday to raise societal awareness about the social evil and put a stop to crimes against women. It's possible that this was the first time in history when a Governor fasted for such a social cause. He started his fast at Raj Bhavan, his official home in Thiruvananthapuram, in the morning and concluded it by garlanding Mahatma Gandhi's monument at Gandhi Bhavan.
