Uttarakhand govt cancels Kanwar yatra amid Covid-19 pandemic
Haridwar: The Uttarakhand government cancelled the Kanwar Yatra this year predicting Covid third wave. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that they decided to cancel yatra after interacting with the officials of neighbouring states. “Peoples' lives are our main concern and don't want to play with them,” he said.
The CM further added that even God doesn't want to people die. It is known that every year approximately 30 million devotees pay a visit to Haridwar to take the sacred water of the river Ganga with them to perform pooja to Lord Shiva at their places.
