Twitter triggers controversy: Excludes Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh from India's map
On Monday, the microblogging service Twitter showed a distorted map of India, depicting Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as distinct nations, prompting widespread condemnation. The blunder comes after months of conflict between the microblogging service and the federal government over new IT regulations. This isn't the first time Twitter's website has shown an incorrect map of India. It showed Leh as part of China last year. IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad facing Twitter suspension for one hour has also turned controversial recently.
Twitter has recently received harsh criticism from the government, as well as threats of legal action if it does not comply with the new rules.
