Third wave of corona unlikely to be as severe as second wave-ICMR
According to a research performed by the Indian Council of Medical Research in conjunction with Imperial College London, the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic may not be as serious as the second wave, and increasing vaccine efforts may help reduce it. The study report is published in the Indian Journal of Medical Research.
The ICMR research identified two processes that might result in a catastrophic third wave. The first is a novel variety that is more communicable and capable of evading previous immunity, and the second is when lockdowns are immensely effective in restricting transmission and are then lifted.
