Rahul Gandhi records statement at Surat court in defamation case
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday appeared in Surat Court and recorded his statement in a criminal defamation case registered against him in 2019 over his remark on Modi surname. Purnesh Modi, a BJP MLA from Gujarat, filed a defamation suit against him.
Later, complainant's counsel BV Rathod told the media about the proceedings of the case in the court. He said Rahul informed the court that he had no knowledge regarding the remark made by him in 2019 against the PM. During the Lok Sabha election campaign in 2019, the former AICC President took a dig at PM Modi, stating, "why do all thieves have the Modi surname?"
