Absolute majority for YSRCP in Legislative Council from today
The ruling YSRCP has secured absolute majority in the Legislative Council from Friday as the tenure of 10 MLCs is going to end today. The MLC strength of the YSRCP rose to 21 while the TDP’s figure fell to 15 from 22. Recently, four MLCs were nominated as members of the council in the Governor’s quota.
The number of vacancies to be filled under local bodies’ quota rose to 11. The AP government may withdraw the resolution sent to the Union Home Ministry in January 2020, seeking abolition of the Legislative Council.
