In a nation’s first, Apollo BGS Hospitals in Mysuru helps SPKT patient deliver baby
Karnataka: A Simultaneous Pancreas and Kidney Transplant (SPKT) patient delivered a baby boy at Apollo BGS Hospitals in Mysuru, defying all odds. The woman was identified as 35-year-old Mekhala, who underwent SPKT three years ago.
It is the first case in India and in Apollo Group of Hospitals in which a SPKT patient has been able to conceive naturally and deliver a healthy baby. She gave birth to baby weighing 2.5 kg under strict Covid-19 precautions. According to gynaecologist Dr Anjali, both mother and baby are healthy and it was a rare case.
