China will allow couples to have three children
As the country is burdened with an ageing population, the Chinese government decided to allow couples to have three children. China President Xi Jinping approved the new policy at a meeting with top Communist Party officials.
The Chinese government scrapped the decades-old one-child policy in 2016 and replaced it with a two-child policy. The census data showed a steep decline in child rates and younger population. The Xi Jinping government changed its decision after the older population increased and the decline in the younger population due to its two-child policy.
