11 lost life due to disruption in oxygen supply at Ruia Hospital in Tirupati

Tirupati: In a tragic incident, at least eleven patients died and the condition of few others stated to be critical after oxygen supply interrupted at SVR Ruia Government Hospital on Monday night. According to the reports, arrival of a tanker carrying oxygen from Chennai to the hospital was delayed and the hospital authorities used cylinders to supply oxygen to the patients, who were on ventilators.
Chittoor District Collector M Harinarayan rushed to the spot and enquired about the incident. Speaking to the media, he stated that eleven patients died around 8:30 pm due to low pressure in oxygen supply. He said that the situation came under control after the tanker reached the hospital and oxygen stock is replenished.
Blaming the negligence of doctors for the death of their loved ones, the kin of deceased staged a protest on the premises of Ruia and damaged the properties of the hospital. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed grief over the death of 11 people.
