Prof Nageshwar: New AP variant 15 times more infectious, patients turning serious in 3-4 days
According to Professor K Nageshwar, new coronavirus variant found in Andhra Pradesh is 15 times more infectious than the Indian variants B1.617 and B1.618. The AP variant is discovered by Hyderabad-based CCMB and named as N440K. He stated that N440K was first found in Kurnool and at present the variant is in circulation in and around Visakhapatnam.
“I am not sure as to whether the AP government has imposed daytime curfew keeping N440K in mind,” he mentioned. Nageshwar stated that the CCMB has found that people affected with new variant are turning serious within 3 to 4 days.
