What CT value means in a COVID test?
As India is hit with the impact of COVID's second wave, the need for testing has gone up. The widespread testing like TrueNat, CBNAAT, RTPCR, Antigen, and Antibodies Test is being carried out at different stages to ascertain a person's health status. But many people are confused about the meaning of CT level in our RT-PCR reports.
Recently, the Maharashtra government has sought clarification from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), asking whether it is advisable to treat a person as Covid-negative if the CT value is more than 24 and the person is asymptomatic. After taking inputs from virology laboratories across the country, the ICMR said the persons undergoing tests with a Ct; the value found less than 35 may be considered positive, while those with a Ct value above 35 may be considered as negative.
