AP health secretary Anil Singhal on new COVID-19 strain
AMARAVATI: Coronavirus danger bells ringing across Andhra Pradesh and more than 20,000 cases are reporting daily, death rates also increasing. Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu demanding the state government to impose lockdown immediately to contain the virus from further spread. Tension escalated among the people of Andhra Pradesh after Chandrababu Naidu announced that a new strain of Coronavirus N440k entered the state and is the reason cases are increasing on a faster phase.
Reacting to his comments, the state Health Secretary Anil Singhal said that they identified the new strain N440k in July 2020 and asserted that the new cases and deaths are linked with the new strain. Dr Rojarani said that the N440k variant is more dangerous than the normal variant.
