Go for X-ray, avoid CT-scan against mild COVID symptoms: Randeep Guleria
NEW DELHI: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Director Dr Randeep Guleria asked those who have mild COVID-19 symptoms to avoid unnecessary CT scans. Dr Randeep Guleria said that one CT scan is equal to 300-400 chest X-rays and added that it will increase the risk of having cancer in future, especially in youth, due to the harmful radiation.
He further added that if anyone having a doubt then first go for an X-ray and later doctor will advise if it is necessary to undergo a CT scan or not. He said that as per a study 30 to 40 per cent of people with asymptomatic but tested positive for Coronavirus.
