ECI takes stringent measures for counting of votes on May 2
In the wake of Madras High Court blaming the Election Commission of India (ECI) for surge in coronavirus positive cases, the ECI is taking stringent measures for counting of votes for four states and one union territory on May 2. The poll body said that only staff, who were vaccinated with two doses, can perform duties on the counting day after showing a proof of their vaccination. The ECI also banned victory celebrations on May 2 outside the counting centres. Besides, only two persons have to accompany the winning candidate for taking a certificate from the Returning Officer.
