High Court raps SEC, Telangana govt over municipal elections
The High Court on Thursday reproached the State Election Commission for going ahead with municipal elections when people are in panic over coronavirus pandemic in the second wave. It asked SEC officials as to whether they are aware of the present critical situation that entire India going through.
Counsel for the SEC informed the High Court that decision to hold municipal elections was taken after consulting the state government. The High Court asked the Telangana government as to what measures have been taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus after April 30. Advocate-General B S Prasad informed the High Court that he will file an affidavit by today afternoon after seeking the opinion of the state government.
