Last phase of elections begins in West Bengal
WEST BENGAL: The eight-phase of assembly elections in West Bengal started today at 7 AM amid heavy security forces. The elections are conducting for 35 seats across Birbhum, Malda, Kolkata and Murshidabad. It is learnt that 6 seats in Malda, 7 seats in Kolkata and 11 each in Birbhum and Murshidabad are in the last phase of the elections. Elections are going across 11,860 polling centres and heavy security deployed at the centres. 283 contestants are in the election fray and 35 among them are women.
Two ministers Shahi Panji and Sadhan Pande are seeking re-polling in this phase. TMC candidate Kajal Sinha died due to COVID-19 and his wife filed a murder case against the EC. The results of the election will be announced on May 2nd.
