Railways convert train coaches as COVID-19 care facility
NEW DELHI: The Indian Railways converted 4,002 train coached as COVID-care-isolation facility to assist the state governments which are facing problems due to a shortage of beds to treat Corona patients. The Ministry said that the train coaches will be allocated to the states on request. The railway ministry said it is the idea of PM Narendra Modi to convert train coaches into COVID care facility to assist the state governments. Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal took to Twitter and shared a few images of Rail coaches which are converted into the Corona care centre in Maharashtra.
Minister Piyush Goyal took tweeted as "Government under @PM Narendra Modi leading the fight against COVID-19: 50 COVID-19 isolation coaches with 800 beds ready at Shakur Basti Station & 25 coaches will be available at Anand Vihar Station in Delhi. Railways can setup >3 lakh isolation beds across the country on States' demand."
He also tweeted as "Railways is devoting all its resources for fighting COVID-19. Isolation coaches has started functioning at Nandurbar, Maharashtra with COVID-19 patients being admitted."
