President appoints Justice NV Ramana as next Chief Justice of Supreme Court
President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday appointed Justice NV Ramana as the next Chief Justice of Supreme Court. He would take charge as the Chief Justice of India on April 24. The Ministry of Law and Justice issued a notification appointing Ramana as the next CJI, who is second senior most judge in the apex court.
The present Chief Justice Sharad A Bobde had recommended Ramana’s name for the top judge post of the Supreme Court. Ramana would continue as the CJI till August 26, 2022. Bobde would be retiring as the Chief Justice on April 23.
