Maharashtra: Anil Deshmukh resigns to HM post after HC orders CBI probe
Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Monday tendered resignation to his post after the Bombay High Court ordered the CBI to probe into the allegations levelled by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh against him. He forwarded his resignation letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
The High Court directed the CBI to submit its preliminary report within 15 days. The former top cop alleged that Anil Deshmukh has set a target of Rs 100 crore collection every month for the cops. But Deshmukh had denied the allegations of Param Bir.
