GVMC to resolve drinking water scarcity for Visakha people with Rs 2,500 crore project
Officials of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) are planning to implement a pipeline project with an estimated cost of Rs 2,500 crore. Even the AP government gave approval for the project. The GVMC wants to draw Godavari water from Yeleru by laying a pipeline for putting an end to drinking water scarcity permanently till 2050.
However, the TDP leaders are suspecting that the AP government gave nod to the project to benefit the YSRCP leaders. They questioned as to what was the need for laying separate pipeline when the Polavaram Project would be completed in May 2022. But the Left leaders pointed out that water through gravity from the Polavaram will be available only for five to six months.
