AP High Court directs SEC Nimmagadda to file counter affidavit on ZPTC, MPTC elections
The AP High Court on Thursday heard arguments on three petitions filed asking to direct State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar to conduct ZPTC and MPTC elections before March 31.
Lawyers for petitioners questioned the SEC as to how he can proceed on leave when ZPTC and MPTC elections are pending. They informed the High Court that Nimmagadda had submitted an affidavit in the past that the AP government is not extending cooperation even though he wants to complete the rural and urban local body elections before his tenure. The High Court directed the SEC to submit a counter affidavit and adjourned the hearing to Saturday.
