54% of Hyderabad’s residents developed antibodies against Covid 19 : CCMB
HYDERABAD: Around 54 per cent of Hyderabad residents developed antibodies against Coronavirus that indicates their prior exposure to the virus. CSIR – Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), ICMR – National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) and Bharat Biotech conducted a seroprevalence survey in Hyderabad revealed that 54 per cent developed antibodies.
It is said that more than 75 persons didn't know how they contracted Coronavirus in the past. They collected samples from more than 9,000 people from across 30 wards in the city. Nearly,300 samples collected from each ward and all are above 10 years of age. Reports said that women are a higher seropositive rate than men.
