Narendra Modi Stadium: Know about world's largest cricket ground
President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday inaugurated the world's largest cricket arena, the refurbished Sardar Patel Stadium, which will now be known as Narendra Modi Stadium -- renamed after the country's Prime Minister. Motera Stadium is the largest cricket stadium in the world and the second-largest stadium overall, with a seating capacity of 1.10 lakh spectators, surpassing Melbourne Cricket Ground with its 90,000 capacity. The stadium was dream project of then Gujarat CM, now PM, Narendra Modi. It is also called as pillarless stadium due to the absence of pillar and floodlight towers.
