PM Modi bats for privatisation, says govt has no business to be in business
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that decision of the Central government to privatise all PSUs except four will empower people of the country.
Speaking at a webinar on privatisation organised by the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), the PM stated that running loss making PSUs is burden to the Indian government.
Modi mentioned that money of taxpayers is meant for public welfare schemes and not to spend on PSUs. “The government has no business to be in the business,” he averred. The PM said that role of Centre is to support businesses and not to run them.
