Varavara Rao granted bail for six-months on health grounds
The Bombay High Court has granted bail to revolutionary poet Varavara Rao, an accused in the Bhima Koregaon case. He was granted bail on medical grounds for six months. However, Varavara Rao has to remain in Mumbai and be available whenever he is called for an investigation. He has to stay within the jurisdiction of the NIA court.
The teacher, writer Varavara Rao was arrested from his home in Hyderabad in 2018 for his alleged inflammatory speeches made at the Elgar Parishad conclave. Maharashtra Police claimed that his speech has led to the violence the next day near the Koregaon-Bhima war memorial located on the outskirts of Pune.
