TDP Chief Chandrababu writes letter to Modi against Vizag Steel Plant privatisation
VISAKHAPATNAM: Telugu Desam Party chief, former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to PM Narendra Modi asking to reconsider the decision of privatising the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. He mentioned in the letter that Vizag Steel Plant is a symbol of unity of the Telugu people and added that the foundation of the Steel Plant is soaked in the blood of the Telugu people. He added that 32 people sacrificed their lives for Steel Plant.
He recalled that 12 people killed in police gun firing near the old post office and stated that 66 MLAs and 7 MPs resigned in support of the Steel Plant movement. Chandrababu Naidu said that 68 villages gave 26,000 acres of land to Vizag Steel Plant. 8,000 out of 16,000 families got jobs still now. He asked the centre to allot captive mines to Steel Plant to get rid of the loss.
