Russia reports first case of transmission of bird flu to humans
Russia detected the world's first case of transmission of the H5N8 strain of avian flu from birds to humans and scientists alerted the World Health Organisation. As per reports, scientists at the Vektor laboratory separated the virus's genetic material from the workers at poultry where the outbreak reported in December last year. It is learnt that the workers didn't suffer any serious health problems.
Scientists said that they informed the issue to the WHO about the transmission of H5N8 to humans. H5N8 is highly contagious and cause death for birds. But, it didn't report in humans earlier.
