Japan govt gets a minister of loneliness
Japanese government has launched a cabinet post meant to alleviate loneliness. The said initiative was taken after many youngsters committed suicide due to loneliness that surfaced following Covid-19. Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has appointed regional revitalization minister Tetsushi Sakamoto as a part-time Minister of Loneliness. This ministry will address the issues of loneliness among the citizens.
According to the data collected by the government, the women are suffering from isolation more than men. It has come to their notice that he number of suicides is on a rising trend. The data also showed that more women committed suicide in 2020 as compared to men.
